About the Author:

Daniel Vaughn, currently a resident of Charlotte, NC, but was born and raised in Meridian, MS. He relocated to Milwaukee, WI after graduating from Jackson State University. As a poet/spoken word artist, Vaughn has shared his words nationally and internationally for over the years as a host, feature and slam poet.  Vaughn’s hard work and longevity in the poetry community has not gone unnoticed. Most notably featured on “Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry,” Vaughn showed the world his inimitable ability to charm, captivate and candidly engage the crowd. Vaughn performed the poem, “Six Million” together with nationally acclaimed poet Dasha Kelly during the show’s sixth season in 2007.  Today, people are still raving about the memorable wittiness and transparency into married life. Vaughn, a committed educator and community partner, continues to engage the larger community through creative writing workshops. He currently can be seen working with Still Water’s Collective, Artist Working in Education, inc., and Artworks, Inc. His creative writing workshop, “I Am…” can be tailored to all age groups. It concentrates on the importance of self-awareness and allows participants to tell the story inside of them. Vaughn has completed his first novel, I-57 South, The Journey Home, which will be released the latter part of 2013.
