Spiritual Assassins-Have you ever heard of a person ‘assassinating someone’s character’? We understand that the meaning of this saying is that the person in whom is speaking is making ill or derogatory statements about another person which have the propensity to damage their subject’s reputation (Jer. 18:18). In Exodus 20:7, God gives the commandment which says,“Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.” 

‘nothingness, emptiness, vanity, anything which disappoints the hope which rests upon it; it designates anything that is insubstantial, unreal, or worthless (whether materially or morally); it not only means profanity, but it includes using the Lord’s name (reputation) lightly or without thinking.’ This type of behavior is prevalent within the contemporary context. Even to the point wherein people within the Body of Christ have carelessly engaged in it. For this reason (among many others), we are continuously being instructed to

“…be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…,” “…put off concerning the former conversation the old man…and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,” and “…let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth…” (Rom. 12:2; Eph. 4:22,23,29).When we engage in this type of conversation and behavior, we diminish the character of God within the world’s view; we have misrepresented Him to them with our characterizations about Him through our lack of reverence for the sacred nature of His name. We understand that a person’s name is closely associated with their character and reputation. So why would we be so malicious and slanderous in our treatment of the Lord’
