Episode 343: The Mandela Effect in the Bible, Part Three--Satan, Lucifer, Devil

In their ongoing series about characters we all assume we remember one way from the Bible that turn out to be VERY different (or even non-existent), pastors Sarah, Erica, and Steve take a look at a complex figure in the Old and New Testaments: the adversary figure sometimes called "Satan," "Lucifer," or "the devil."  And in the course of the conversation we'll unpack how three different ideas and figures have kind of been melded together in pop religion, while the Scriptural picture is a little more complicated.  We'll see how layers of ancient mythology, classic literature (like Milton's "Paradise Lost"), and modern pop culture (like Star Wars) has influenced a lot of our thinking about this figure, and how the Hebrew Scriptures especially conceive of this being as more like God's authorized agent to prosecute and test people, rather than a "dark side of the Force" who is opposite and equal to God.  Join us for this deep dive to get a fuller understanding of this mysterious and complex figure here on this week's Crazy Faith Talk!
