Was Charleston Church Murders All About A Race War and Gun Control

Was the killing of 9 Black people at the historic Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC all about starting a race war and gun control. Many conspiracy theorist feel Dylann Storm Roof is a homegrown terrorist whose mission was to carry out these murders, knowing it would stir up racial tension between Blacks and Whites. If a race war were to happen many feel martial law would be implemented, therefore putting each citizen's right to bare arms in jeopardy. Did Dylann Roof act alone. Was he a member of a hate group. How did one lone gunman over-power 12 people. Was this really about the assassination of Senator Clementa Pinkney.
