The Wrongful Arrest and Malicious Prosecution of Major Christopher Bonds

On June 28, 2008 Major Christopher Bonds was wrongfully detained, arrested and later indicted for a crime he never committed. His wife's great Aunt who had been previously diagnosed with dementia alleged that Major Bonds choked her as well as elbowed her in the chest. Most people who are familiar with Alzheimer or dementia patients understand these patients often make up events and actually believe they occurred. However, the Chicago police department did not thoroughly investigate these accusations, nor did they take into account the aunt's mental condition at the time of the report. When Major Bonds made numerous attempts to explain to detectives what had actually occurred, he was left with the impression the...y were not at all concerned about the truth. These false accusations have lead to years of Major Bonds fighting in court against the word of an Alzheimer patient whom he loved and cared about . The whole ordeal has left Major Bonds exhausted mentally, physically and financially. He has spent over $100,000 in legal fees. After a lengthy court battle this case was eventually dismissed. However, the same judge that dismissed the case has refused to expunge Major Bonds arrest record.
